Meet Koraun Mayweather, an Aspiring Musician and the Son of Floyd Mayweather Jr
Koraun Mayweather is the son of American former professional boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. Floyd was active in the boxing scene from 1997 to 2017; he retired with an undefeated record. Many can remember him when he played against Manny Pacquaio. The match between the two happened in May 2015 and grossed over six hundred million dollars. Koraun’s father pocketed a lot of money from that one match.
Early Life and Relationship with His Father
Koraun Mayweather was born in November 1999 to Floyd and his late ex, Josie. When Koraun was born, his parents had an on-and-off relationship. As such, he spent most of his time with his mother. However, despite their struggles, Koraun’s mother made sure that he saw his father over the weekends.
Growing up, Koraun liked spending time with his father. However, he did not find boxing fun; he said that it could be fun the first few rounds but the final rounds are usually boring. While spending time with his father, they used to go bowling and watch games such as basketball. For instance, in 2017, he attended a basketball game between the Lakers and the Clippers. Koraun was not only with his father but also with his sister Iyanna and brother Zion.
Koraun has a good relationship with his father. His father mentioned that their relationship might be strained sometimes, but he has always been there for his kids, and he encourages them to pursue their dreams.
Koraun is an Aspiring Musician
Koraun Mayweather is not a fan of boxing. As such, he did not want to follow in his father’s footsteps. He has chosen to venture into the entertainment industry as a music artist. Koraun launched his music career in 2018 with the single Racks. He uses the stage name King Koraun. Two years later, Koraun released his debut album, A King’s Party. In 2023, Koraun released another single titled Never Broke Again.
Koraun posts some of his projects on his social media handles, especially on Instagram, where he has a following of over 300K followers.
Koraun has not yet made it in the music industry, but he is determined and wants to ensure he makes an impact in the competitive music industry. Despite claiming that he dislikes boxing, a video of Koraun making moves was posted on Instagram. When asked if he could consider pursuing boxing, he said he might, but not as a pro. He only wants to focus on his music career.
His Father
Koraun’s father might be one of the best boxers to have entered the boxing ring, but he has been the subject of several controversial issues. He has been arrested and convicted on several occasions on claims of battery and domestic violence. In 2004, he was on trial for misdemeanor battery against two women; he was sentenced to a one-year suspended jail term and asked to pay a fine of a thousand dollars.
Over the years, Koraun’s father has been on the ladder of law enforcers for various offenses, most of which are assault cases.
